Zashikiwarashi
By Eriko Takenami

This is the story of Zashikiwarashi.

Zashikiwarashi is a 10-year-old boy with straight, bobbed hair. He wears a boys kimono. He appears in the Tohoku region of Japan in Japanese-style guest rooms with tatatmi mats. He does mischief at night such as running around the room and removing the pillows of sleeping people. Sometimes he even sits on top of sleeping people. Although he does mischief, he is harmless. Children rarely see him.

After he leaves a house, it is said the house will become condemned.
