History of tea
Contributed by Han Yubing

Japanese tea comes from China. People began drinking tea 2,000 years ago in China.

In Chinese myth, early inhabitants searched the mountains for medicines and got poisoned by 72 different kinds of plants. But in the end, they were saved by the blade of the tea. From then on, people continued drinking tea as medicine.

In the Heian period, tea was handed down to Japan by a Japanese priest who gave it to the Emperor. After that, in the 12th century, the way of serving tea was introduced to Japan. The first book of tea was published in the 15th century. At that time, tea was used only by the upper classes and they treated it as an event.
